World's leading bioeconomy scholars in 202019-Jan-2023 - In the study entitled "Open bioeconomy - a bibliometric study on the accessibility of articles in the field of bioeconomy", openly accessible at Publications, Joachim Schöpfel and co-workers have identified 2489 scientific articles on bioeconomy published between 2015 and 2019 in 932 different journals.

Following S. Venkata Mohan, from CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Rosaria Ciriminna and Mario Pagliaro from Italy's Research Council (CNR), rank 3rd and 2nd amid the ten most prominent authors.

Pointing to the relevance of the bioeconomy in Italy, furthermore, the European country has 4 out of the 10 authors in the ranking, which includes also scholars from China, Germany, France, USA and Latvia.

Professor in information and communication sciences at the University of Lille, Schöpfel co-authored the study with world-renown chemist Franck Dumeignil, from the same University, and colleagues from the Groupe d'Études et de Recherche Interdisciplinaire en Information et Communication.
