5-Aug-2026 - In 2006 a management scholar,
Anne-Wil Harzing, released the first version of 'Publish or
Perish' (PoP=, a free bibliometrics software (whose code, see the
interview, was written by her husband) that in the subsequent two
decades will be downloaded by
more than 2 million users
worldwide.
Scholars
use PoP "to insert updated and meaningful
scientometric indicators in their applications, make their case
for citation impact and include standardised metrics in their job,
promotion, or funding applications".
I interviewed Professor Harzing in the context of our applied
research on open science and scholarly communication (
