The Sol-Gel Trilogy

ChemSocRev publishes "The chemical effects of molecular sol-gel entrapment", the second piece of our trilogy aimed to elucidate the origins of the extraordinary performance of sol-gel doped materials (right, photo courtesy of Prof. David Avnir).

Hence, after the physical bases described in our analysis written with Sandro Campestrini and Michel Wong Chi Man, now it's the turn of their chemistry.

A few more months and it will be the turn of the influence of their shape in our new contribute written with Marisa Ferrer and Paco del Monte soon to appear in print. Now, maybe shape is not "everything" in materials chemistry, as Geoff (Ozin) likes to put it; but its importance is something that goes beyond the expectations of the most geometrical mind.
Sol-gels do miracles and we are getting closer to better understand them. If you plan to do some good research on them, just write me and pack your bags heading to Palermo.
