The report is the first delivered by Italy's renown chemist to the ERC, a governmental foundation that was established on the basis of the Estonian Science Foundation and combined with the Research Cooperation Centre, to concentrate the R&D funding, consolidating different grants and types of funding.

Following peer review, the accepted proposals receive significant funding aimed to enhance the competitiveness of Estonian research across the world.

"Along with France's Research Agency, the Pazi Foundation and the Royal Society, acting as reviewer for such another prestigious institution -- says Dr Pagliaro -- is a new welcome opportunity to enhance the standing and the influence of research carried out in Sicily".
